Network of test sites

A series of test sites will be established where new technologies can be tested. These may consist of existing infrastructures, such as the KTB or COSC sites, or the establishment of new ones. An example of an existing site is the KTB Deep Crustal Laboratory in Windischeschenbach (SE Germany). It is a worldwide unique research site for experiments and tests under in situ borehole conditions with its two 4000 and 9100 m deep research wells. The wells are both fully accessible, just 200 m apart from each other and accompanied by a complete extensive infrastructure with workshops and offices. High temperature and pressure (T > 170 °C, p > 65 MPa) in the boreholes offer ideal test beds for high-tech developments and testing of new scientifc and technical methods. Depending upon interest from industry, it may be possible to establish new sites near Lund or in a mining district in Sweden.Other potential sites are being investigated and more information will follow.
